My name is Nisreen Zaino, a teacher from the Gaza Strip. I am married and the mother of six daughters, the youngest of whom is just one and a half years old. My husband is currently unemployed due to circumstances beyond our control, and I am the sole provider for my family.

I am also the only caregiver for my bedridden mother, Widad Hijazi, who suffers from a herniated disc, heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. Due to the ongoing war, blockade, and the severe famine we endured for extended periods in northern Gaza, her kidney function has deteriorated significantly, causing her unbearable pain. Hospitals here are lacking in both medications and proper medical care.

With famine resurging once again, food has become extremely scarce, and when available, it’s sold at exorbitant prices. Life-saving medications—such as Nifedipine, along with treatments for blood pressure, heart conditions, diabetes—as well as basic necessities like diapers, are nearly impossible to find, and if they are available, their prices are beyond our means.

I do not receive a salary or any form of assistance. I am struggling greatly to provide for my daughters. I can’t find milk or diapers for my youngest, and I am unable to feed all my children adequately. We are constantly living under the weight of psychological trauma that is slowly breaking our spirits.

I appeal to your compassion and humanity—please help us. My mother is in desperate need of urgent medical care, and my daughters are hungry. Any support you can provide will help alleviate our suffering. Life is priceless, and no amount of money can ever compare to saving it.
